About My Country

Hi everyone! Welcome back to the creative side of life! Today we are going to see some interesting facts about my country that will for certain bring the curious travelling nature of you. So buckle up, we are going to Malaysia!

First, let us know a little bit about Malaysia. Malaysia is a Southeast Asian country occupying parts of the Malay Penisular and the island of Borneo. It is known for it's beaches, rainforests and a mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian and European cultural influences. The capital of our country is Kuala Lumpur. It is home to mind-dizzing skyscrapers and busy shopping districts.

Fact 1. Malaysia is the home for the biggest (and the most stinky) flower in the world.

In the vast forests in Sarawak, this huge flower called as Rafflesia stands out in the greenery. Many tourists stop to admire this very huge flower. It blooms very rarely, so you can say that it is pure luck if you stumble across them. But don't get too close! It is also the most smelliest flower you will ever find. Unlucky tourists whom chanced a smell of this flower says that it smells worse than rotten meat! So it does not take a genius to know to not get to close if they don't fancy a huge stink!

Fact 2. The national anthem of Malaysia was actually originally meant to be a state anthem.

Negaraku is the national anthem of Malaysia. But many did not know that it was actually originally Perak's state anthem. For you info, Perak is the largest state in Penisular Malaysia. But our Independence Father, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj made Negaraku as the official state anthem. Now you might be wondering, how about Perak's state anthem? Well, in the end, Perak got a new anthem which is called as Allah Lanjutkan Usia Sultan. Whew! That is such a fuss for a song!

Fact 3. The states Sabah and Sarawak was not originally a part of Malaysia

If you see in the world map like the one above, Malaysia is made up of East and West Malaysia. But before, Sabah and Sarawak was actually not a part of Malaysia. Only onward 16 September 1964 Malaysian government officially included Sabah and Sarawak into Malaysia. This is because the Malaysian government decided to help the two states to get independence from the British. Singapore was also included, but later it decided to be an independent country. Wow, such a long manufacturing process!

Okay, guys! This is the end of this entry. If I got the time, support and sources, I will make a Part 2 about Malaysia! So see you next time!
